At Fortune’s Revenge, we believe every bold spirit has a story to tell, this is ours..."A year before the Boston Tea Party, the sloop Fortune, owned by Nathaniel Greene, future general under George Washington, was seized by a British officer from the schooner Gaspee. Under false claims that taxes on its rum cargo were unpaid,Greene and his crew were forced ashore as their ship and goods were confiscated.But Fortune favored the bold. Days later, Greene and his men returned to the Gaspee in row boats, under the cover of night. In a daring raid, they reclaimed the Fortune, took back their rum, and seized the Gaspee itself.
